As well as my full time employment roles listed here I have been involved with quite a few freelance projects that have helped me gain experience leading projects from start to finish both independently and as part of a small team.

Software Engineer II – SmashFly Technologies

June 2018 – Present

Part of a small, close knit team assembled to work on a complex project to rewrite a vital part of the companies product and break it down from it’s current monolithic architecture to a microservice architecture using the latest technologies. One of the first members to join the Belfast set up and have been given the chance to have my input from the off.

Software Developer – Intelligent Environments

July 2017 – June 2018

Part of an extremely active application support team to help support a number of widely used production websites and tools. A lot more responsibility than in my previous roles and exposure to new technologies.

C# Developer – Concentrix

May 2013 – July 2017

Part of a successful team to help develop a new MVC application to replace a slow third party application that became a bottleneck for both us and them.

Also part of a team to help develop a new user configurable system that would be extensible and reusable as part of their Renewals Manager product. The project was an N-tier project that used MVC 5 for a lean front end and communicated via WCF services to the business logic layer. Entity Framework and SQL Server was used for the data persistence and the entire project was hosted through various Azure services.

Junior Developer – Omnisoft Services

May 2012 – May 2013

Helped to build a small game using Jaws HTML5 JavaScript Game Engine for the Game to Learn product.

Also part of a successful team to help build a ASP.Net Web Forms application to help with police training in the UK.

Helped to develop an MVC application to help with teacher training courses for a company based in the USA.

Internet and Social Network Admin Belfast Media Group

June 2010 – July 2012

I was part of a small team helping to maintain all of the company’s websites and overall online presence.

We created a brand new website that acts as a focal point for the company which contains all of the latest news from the 3 newspapers they publish.
